General Information - How to Trade?

Trading in Stocks that are listed on the Beirut Stock Exchange is relatively an easy operation.

The first step you need to do is to open a ″Security Account″ with one of the authorized brokers, you can use the Beirut Stock Exchange’s list and addresses of authorized brokers to select a broker, and issue a check in favor of the broker including the total amount you wish to invest and the brokerage fees (in case you want to execute a buy order), or deposit securities in this account prior to any sell transactions.

The second step is to give the broker a buy or sell order specifying the security in which you want to invest or sell, the number of shares you wish to buy or sell and the price you are ready to pay (when buying a security) or get (in case you are selling). Prices should be placed within the price thresholds fixed by the Stock Exchange. (Please refer to Circular number 171/2003 dated 3/7/2003 for more details on price thresholds).  Note that in case you choose to place a market to limit order you need not to stipulate or fix a price for the security you want to buy or sell.  In this case, order will be executed at the current best market price. If the order is only partially filled, the remainder of the order will be resubmitted to the Beirut Stock Exchange's trading system as a limit order with a price equal to the price at which the filled portion of the order was executed.
